Michael Rochfort's 1972 Cabriolet
This car was produced in February 1972, the same month the Beetle broke the record as the world's most produced car. The car was originally sold by Strong's Volkswagen in Klamath Falls, Oregon, USA, in June, 1972. The owner purchased the car in a very sorry state in Australia, converted it to RHD, and otherwise restored it to road-worthy condition. The colour was at first changed to Turquoise Metallic , unusual but correct for the year and model. The car was driven daily for a number of years after this initial "quick and dirty" restoration. In 2003, the car was taken off the road, re-painted black after some minor panel repairs, re-trimmed with light beige interior and an off-white top, and generally massaged into factory-original condition. |
