Ray Black's 1954 Cabriolet

[1954 Cabriolet] This car has had an adventurous life. Most probably, it was originally brought to Australia by an immigrant in the late '50s, as Cabrios were never imported by VW to Australia.

It was found about 1982 in the outback (far-west) of New South Wales where it had been used as a vehicle for wild pig and kangaroo shooters. Can you imagine this Cabrio hurling across the dusty plains blasting away at a wild pig! Eventually it was abandoned, in sad shape, behind a shed.

Fortunately, a VW enthusiast spotted the car, and returned it to Sydney. Restoration commenced, and was eventually abandoned in favour of its use as a drag racer! Ray purchased the car at that stage, and began the long task of transforming the car back to its original 1954 presentation.
